Why do my headlights turn yellow and hazy in the first place?
Modern headlights are made of polycarbonate plastic, which comes from the factory with a clear protective UV film. Over time, constant exposure to the intense Southern California sun degrades that protective film. Once the UV layer fails, the plastic physically oxidizes from the solar heat and radiation, creating that ugly, yellowed "gunk" that blocks your light.
How long will this restoration last? Will they just turn yellow again?
If you just use a cheap DIY kit or toothpaste, they will yellow again in a few weeks because there is no lasting protection. We don't shortcut the process. After wet sanding from 800-3000 grit and machine polishing the lenses back to perfect clarity, we seal them with a 1-year ceramic coating. This locks out the UV rays and ensures your headlights stay crystal clear for a long period of time with proper maintenance.
